Winter on the island

Winter On The Island

We have had snow this winter - the first in a couple of years. Here is a photo I took on January 20th of our office and of the Ocracoke Lighthouse.

It has been quiet and peaceful here over the winter - it is a time when the community spends time with each other. There are potlucks, music nights at the Community Store, book club get togethers at the Library, school events ... lots of reasons to share warm evenings.

Some new and good island happenings are the startup of our new radio station- WOVV Ocracoke Village Voice. You can listen to it only on your computer for now. Go to this link
http://www.wovv.org/

They are partially funded by the Ocracoke Foundation and will be an important way for locals and visitors to keep informed of events, news, music and public announcements, especially weather related advisories and storm reports.

We also have a new restaurant which has just opened. "Rileys" featuring Italian-American food is located where Mango Loco used to be, near the Post Office. I have heard they have many, many years of experience and a great reputation.

We have a lot of great real estate deals on the island right now. Please feel free to drop us a line, phone or come by for a visit.
